It’s worth remembering what happened when the Indiana Pacers lost to the Miami Heat on December 12th. season.
Worth remembering, because tonight Halliburton made us forget even the game. At Miami, the 22-year-old’s points guard had the best game of his career, with 43 points, 7 assists and jumper to win the gameHe hit out a Pacers franchise-record 10 threes and looked as much an All-Star as he did two days before in Boston.
“I told everyone, ‘Give me the ball and the game is over.'” Haliburton is Bally Sports Indiana Broadcast after the end buzzer.
His 43 points were a career-high for Halliburton and the first Pacers member to surpass 35 points. Indiana was +4 in star points that night with his guard on the court. The final score was 111-108.
Halliburton was unstoppable and pushed the Pacers to their second straight win. Indiana improved to 17-16 with the win, its first straight win since November 21st.
Buddy Hield scored 21 points, all on 3-point shots. Jalen Smith hit a double-double off the bench. Many other Pacers his players made big plays at key moments.
But this was a Halliburton game, and the clutch shot was the biggest moment of his tenure with the Pacers. He has had the opportunity to take blue and gold clutch shots and will continue to take them.
The Pacers’ biggest points tonight could all be based in Halliburton, but some stand out after an impressive win.
Tyrese Haliburton is a star
The Heat gave Halliburton a unique defensive coverage just 11 days ago, slowing down a talented point guard. Less than two weeks later, he’s already learned how to deal with more defensive attention, tearing down the same defense that gave him a seizure earlier that month.
That’s what stars do. They learn from bad games, regroup, and get better. Haliburton may only be 22, but he already has the ability to do just that. And he did it against a Top 8 defense.
A career-high scoring night combined with one of the biggest moments of his NBA career means Tyrese Haliburton won’t be a night to forget anytime soon. It can also be remembered as what made him known as a star throughout the league.
Pacers respond to their struggle
Halliburton responded to the heat’s struggle by going from a 1-point game to a 43-point outing. This reflects what the Pacers have been doing all season.
Every time the blue and gold drops, they bounce. By Wednesday, the team had lost four of his five games, and he hadn’t won two games in a row in a month. But then they beat the Celtics in Boston and the Heat in Miami. They bounced back quickly and crossed .500 again.
The Pacers are currently tied for 7th in the Eastern Conference standings, playing 1 in 6 games. They have surprised many this season and continue to impress as the calendar approaches Christmas.
Buddy Hield steps up
Halliburton was great, but he couldn’t have led the Pacers to victory on his own.Buddy Hield stepped up big.
The sweet shooting guard hit seven threes, one-third of the team’s total for the night. All of his 21 points came from long range, including a qw in the first half. He was great and played well with Halliburton.
“Buddy kept us going,” Pacers head coach Rick Carlyle said after the game. According to Dustin Dopilak indianapolis star.
Indiana now has two days off and will play in New Orleans next Monday. They are looking to continue their strong play against the 20-12 Pelicans.
