Many people have a love-hate relationship with golf. If you’ve ever picked up a golf club and tried to hit that little white ball, you’ll agree. Golf is difficult.
But after many ups and downs, long days on the course, and years of practice, I didn’t give up golf for the sake of the world. became obsessed with the game.
I was born and raised in the small town of Hammonton, New Jersey, also known as the “Blueberry Capital of the World.” I grew up on a blueberry farm, spent most of my days riding tractors and forklifts, helping my family on the farm, and of course filling my face with blueberries.
But life wasn’t easy. As a Mexican Latino raised by young divorced parents, I always felt like the cards were stacked. So I set out to find something that would overcome conflict, embrace diversity, and satisfy my passion.
For me it was golf. And I am grateful to my grandfather.
He is one of the main reasons I play and he taught me everything I know about the game to this day. I have admired his hard work and dedication to sports and have seen how much it has impacted his own life, all of which have made him a veterinarian in White, North Carolina, his Lake Vins. The yard led to him being the owner of the golf course.
I started playing golf seriously when I was in high school. I was the team’s captain, MVP, and played as the only female on an all-men’s team. Even though I had to compete with everyone, I accepted the challenge and used it as motivation to do my best. It helped me prepare.
Golf really takes you anywhere. For me, he first enrolled at Florida Gulf Coast University, where he is currently in his junior year of the PGA Golf Management Program. I am currently a member of the program’s student council committee, work in the on-campus financial aid office, and work as a junior golf instructor and communications manager at the local junior golf academy. I did a paid internship, played great golf courses, and met many inspiring and influential people. All of this would not have been possible without golf.
Honestly, golf gave me everything. I hope my story will inspire more young women to give golf a try and turn their passion into a career. As an aspiring PGA professional, it’s been amazing to see how the game has gone and how much it has grown since I first started playing.The golf industry is a place for everyone. Yes, and that’s what makes the golf industry so special.
