Q: What is the difference between DevOps Engineering and Lead Systems Engineering?
Alexei: Both positions play an important role in the development of the IT industry. In theory, our main difference is that DevOps Engineers are responsible for processes related to application release automation, while Lead Systems Engineers are technical integration specialists who bring broad IT systems expertise. to provide.

Alexei: Since entering his profession, he has consistently expanded his expertise through further education, including graduating with Red Hat, Amazon, and Cloud Native Computing Foundation certifications. Earning one of his most difficult IT certifications in 2020, Red Hat Certified Architect, he quickly caught the eye of his Digital IQ team and was invited for an interview.
In addition to holding RHCA status, I had to prove my basic knowledge of building fault-tolerant IT systems. Fault tolerance refers to the ability of a system to continue to operate without interruption when a component fails or an engineering procedure is required.
After a successful interview with Digital IQ, I started preparing to apply for a US visa.
Q: Please tell us about the process leading up to moving to the United States.
Alexei: In my case, I was trying to get an O-1 nonimmigrant visa. It is a visa granted to individuals who have demonstrated and been recognized for their extraordinary ability in science, education, or business. I chose this path because I have contributed to the development of the industry and have published many scientific papers on IT.
Q: What made you choose to further your career in America?
Alexei: I call the US a strategic hub for IT talent. It is home to some of the world’s largest technology companies.
From a career standpoint, I was drawn to the really unbiased atmosphere. Non-discrimination of nationality, educational background, age, gender, etc. has become my basic values as a professional. The only criteria by which you will be judged is whether you are talented and motivated. It inspires me to work harder and with full commitment.
Q: What are the most in-demand IT professions today?
Alexei: As most developed countries strive to gain technological leadership, they hope to attract the most talented and promising professionals. To that end, we need at least 1 million IT talent.
As the amount of program code written increases exponentially each year, so does the number of qualified IT specialists. The industry is severely short of talented people such as software engineers, systems engineers, data scientists, cloud architects, and machine learning engineers.

Q: What are your recent success stories?
Alexei: Our clients need our team to earn their full trust. One of her newest partners has signed a contract valid for two weeks only. Our job was to integrate a container orchestration solution and implement her GitOps end-to-end on the client’s system. GitOps is an operational framework that takes DevOps application development best practices and applies them to infrastructure automation.
Although difficult, our team successfully completed the task. The solution we implemented reduced his delivery time for new version releases by 70%. As a result, the client offered us a one-year contract.
Q: What are your aspirations for the future?
Alexei: In a few years, I want to be a lead system architect. This type of specialist combines administrative and technical skills and can work directly with clients to propose the most efficient IT solutions and expertise.
