Santa Cruz 69, Oakland 60: Aden Curie made four 3-pointers to score 26 points in a non-league win the Cardinals won Wednesday. He also recorded eight rebounds and five steals.
All eight of Curie’s points in the fourth quarter came at the free-throw line. Santa Cruz made his 25 of his 33 attempts from the free-throw line.
Ben Dotten made 9 free throws for Santa Cruz for 17 points and 8 rebounds (6-3). Demeke Smith tallied her 9 points and her 8 rebounds, and Kirby Seals scored her 8 points.
The Cardinals led 34-16 in the first half.
Montana’s dedicated guard, Money Williams, scored 12 of a team-high 16 points in the second half for Oakland (5-2).
Hollister 61, Soquel 60, OT: Chase Conley’s 3-pointer with seven seconds left helped sink the Knights in the team’s non-league game on Wednesday night.
Sokel’s midcourt shot as time expired went off the mark. Braylon Noble scored 26 points for the Knights and Nico Ramirez scored 11.
Jordan Prado led Hollister (4-1) with 20 points.

At St. Francis 81, Kirby 25: Nash Horton and Jr. Ibarra each scored 21 points as the Sharks secured a non-league win Wednesday night.
Joseph Rose scored 11 points, Christian Magana and Adam Hernandez scored 8 points each. Aiden Andrade scored his seven and Diego Ramirez scored his five.
Rain Li led Kirby with eight points, Theo Fowler scored seven and Patrick Costello added six.
The Sharks (3-3) will play in Pajaro Valley on December 21st.
Women’s soccer
Harbor 2, St. Francis 0: Harbor goaltenders Mia Rodriguez and Amelia Schelhorse completed two consecutive shutouts for the Pirates on Wednesday.
Sharks junior goaltender Samantha Martinez made 13 saves to bring the score closer.
Junior Sonia Halfers finished off a cross from sophomore Chloe Simon in the 22nd minute before junior Annika Dawson beat two defenders to find a corner above the near post in the second half.
“I’m proud of how our players started the season,” said Pirates manager Wes Baer. “It’s not easy to beat all five Watsonville-area schools.”
The Pirates (5-2-0) play Hollister (1-3-1) on Friday at 5:45 pm.
MVC 1, Sobrato 1: Julia Leyland scored for the Mustangs after intercepting a pass to Sobrat’s goalkeeper in the first half on Wednesday.
Sobrato scored late in the first half.
MVC goaltender Alexa Malaspina made 13 saves by successfully blocking a ball that slid behind the defense.

Pajaro Valley 9, Seaside 2: Valeria Acosta scored four goals in the Grizzlies’ non-league game on Tuesday.
Karla Levy, Maricza Rodriguez and Scarlet Gomez each scored 1 goal and 1 assist. Kylie Monetentz and Jocelyn Llamas each scored his one goal.
The Grizzlies play in St. Francis on Friday at 3pm.

Aptos 6, Monterey 0: Eddie Alvarez scored twice in the Mariners’ non-league victory on Wednesday.
Kai Walsh and Caleb Placencia scored goals and assists respectively. Daniel Lozano and Coco Banks also scored.
Carlos Gutierrez has two assists and Ulises Valdez has one.
Goalkeeper Noah Curran made three saves (4-2-0) for the Mariners against Salinas at Saratoga High on Saturday at 11am.
Piedmont Hills 5, MVC 4: Seniors Evan Mariscal and Landon Giordano and freshmen Julian Pizarro and Practice Tracy scored for the Mustangs in non-league play Wednesday in San Jose.
MVC (1-2-3) will play at Silver Creek in San Jose on Friday at 6:30pm.
women’s basketball
San Lorenzo Valley 54, Anzar 17: Senior guard Amelia Sizemore had 18 points, six rebounds and three stolen bases as the Cougars went 7-0 in non-league play Wednesday.
Senior guard Lucy Lilienthal Wynn scored 12 points, as did senior forward Vera Reynolds. Junior guard Hannah Morley had a season-high eight steals.
The Cougars play at MVC on Friday.
Watsonville 40, Soledad 34: Nancy Morado led the Wildcats with 10 points, 10 steals, 6 rebounds and 3 assists in a come-from-behind victory on Tuesday.
Watsonville outscored Soledad 30–16 in the second half.
The Wildcats played without leading scorer Citrali Montesino. Montecino was recently celebrating with his family after his father was sworn in as Watsonville’s new mayor.
Isabella Love had 10 points and four rebounds. Freshman Stephanie Martinez added 5 points, 5 steals, 4 rebounds and 2 assists.
Sophomore Danica Hernandez further accelerated her comeback by adding a key and one basket. She added eight rebounds, three steals, and one block.
