La Crosse’s Davis has has career-high 15, but Badgers go cold late in loss at Northwestern – WIZM 92.3FM 1410AM


He scored a career-high 15 points from lacrosse Jordan Davis, but the University of Wisconsin men’s basketball team suffered its fourth loss in five games.

The Badgers (12-6) stole goals from the field 10-1 in a 66-63 loss to Northwestern. The two teams were scoreless with 2:18 left in the game until the Wildcats (13-5) hit his two free throws with 26.5 seconds remaining.

Neither team led by more than four points in the second half, which included 16 lead changes.

As for Davis, he went 6-for-10 from the field. Six were his goals on the field, also a career-high. The 6-foot-4-inch junior had six rebounds, a steal, a block, an assist and no turnovers in 38 minutes.

In the last game, Davis came off the bench for the first time this season after being scoreless in consecutive games.

Davis’ previous career-high score was 14 on December 15 against Lehigh. Also, against Lehigh, he was making his career-best four of his 3-pointers. Prior to that, he scored 13 points against Stanford on November 11.

For Northwestern, the win gives the Badgers a seven-game losing streak that dates back to their 2018 victory in Madison. Monday’s game was his closest in the series since 2009, and it was also his 66-63 NU home win, a span UW won 17 of his 21 games.

Monday’s matchup was a make-up game postponed to Saturday due to COVID-19 protocols in the Northwest.

Wisconsin heads to Maryland (12-7) on Wednesday. Terps is 2-4 in his last 6 games.
