LeBron James inches closer to becoming NBA’s career scoring leader

Kareem Abdul-Jabbar would rather enjoy the coming weeks as the all-time leading scorer in NBA history as LeBron James approaches his record game after game. James, who scored 23 points in the Lakers’ game against the Grizzlies on Friday, is already the second player in his career to break the 38,000 career points barrier, but now he’s 261 points behind him. It is 261 points behind.

James is averaging 29.5 points per game for the season. If James doesn’t miss a game in the meantime, his record will be on Feb. 7 at home against the Oklahoma City Thunder if the pace holds up.
