Nicklas Backstrom Records 750th Career Assist on Sonny Milano Goal

Nicklas Backstrom’s return to the Washington Capitals’ lineup is only recent, but the former first-round pick is already making an impact. And in the Capps’ first visit to Mallet Arena in Arizona, the 35-year-old center reached a milestone number for helpers.

Backstrom recorded the 750th helper of his NHL career by recording his second assist on linemate Sonny Milano’s goal in the team’s second period against the Arizona Coyotes.

Backstrom has ranked third in the league in assists since joining the NHL in 2007 (and is also the Capitals’ franchise assist leader).

Backstrom has now recorded three assists in six games since returning to the lineup.
