Tanya Outen The Hartford Women’s Basketball Team finished with a career-high 14 points as they scored a 76-59 decision against Chicago State University on Saturday. The Hawks fall to 0-20 on the season, but the Cougars improve to 2-21 on the year.

Forbes slammed a 3 from the corner before Outten converted low on the layup down to give the Hawks an early 5-0 lead. Chicago State responded with his own 4-0 run to close the gap to his 5-4. Through the rest of the first, both sides went back and forth as the Cougars took a 16-14 lead into the opening break.
Starting the quarter with a 6-1 run, the Hawks regained the lead from the start at 20-19 with 8:26 remaining. But Chicago State responded immediately with his own 5–0 run capped by Janiah’s Newell and his one play. The Hawks will keep the game within range as he takes a 38-34 deficit heading into the halftime break.
Going into the second half, the sides exchanged baskets up and down the floor, playing a 49-42 game with 5:11 remaining. The Cougars took advantage of an 11-3 run in the final five minutes of the third round to lead 58-45 into the fourth round. Chicago State’s lead proved too great for the Hawks to overcome as it fell by a final score of 76-59.
