DAVIDVILLE — It took just 44 seconds for Cornemoe Township’s Mya Poznanski to reach his career 1,000-point plateau against Ferndale on Thursday.
The senior guard took the feed from Maeve Cullen and filled in a 3-pointer from the wing giving 1,000 to the mark. She added another 18 points on her memorable night to lead Commotownship past Ferndale 64-45 with a game-high 21.

“It’s really cool to be able to achieve this,” said Poznanski. “I know my team worked really hard[on Thursday]to win. I am working hard to win.”
Poznanski became the 15th Kornmaw Township women’s basketball player in program history to record 1,000 career points. She joins brother Jordan (1,995 points in his career) and brother Tyler (1,316 points).
“I saw my brothers doing it and I wanted to do it,” Poznanski said. “It’s just such an accomplishment to do what they did.”

Poznanski scored 24 points as he retreated to Shade on Monday. Poznanski was apprehensive before the tip-off because he only needed three people on his court at home.
“I’m really relieved,” Poznanski said of hitting his goal early in the game. “I was under a lot of stress in the game, but once I understood that, I calmed down and played hard to win the game.”
Coach Lisa Byer of Kornmoe Township knows Poznanski was an integral part of the programme.
“She’s a player focused on winning and focused on the game,” Byers said. “Her mindset was, ‘Let’s get this win,’” she said.
“I have 15 girls and she is one of them and she deserves it. She was a star player for me and a team player for me from day one as a freshman. I have.”

The game was never in doubt for Conemaugh Township, who leveled the record at 7-7. The team used his 12-0 spurt in the first quarter and Poznanski’s scoring of his five points during the run saw him lead 18-9 after the first quarter.
Jenna Brenneman had 20 points and eight rebounds. Katie Wiley scored his eight and Eva Byer scored his seven.
Conemaugh Township led 33-17 at the break and extended their lead to 48-31 after three quarters of action. The team built a lead in the fourth inning and went on to win.
Hitting the milestone prompted Poznanski to focus on more goals.
“We want West PAC (Championship) to join us,” Poznanski said. “And in all the games ahead…[I’m]going to keep winning, play hard together, and see what happens.”
