BELL PLAIN — Harrison Rhone had a career night, but it wasn’t enough for the Colfax Mingo men’s basketball team on Tuesday.
The Tigerhawks had a three-point lead at halftime, but Bell Plain rallied heavily in the third quarter after a 47-46 home victory in the Southern Iowa Cedar League game.
Rhone finished with a career-high 23 points and had a career-high nine rebounds in the loss. He also recorded two assists and three steals.
Colfax-Mingo led 12-8 after one quarter and led 20-17 at halftime, but the Plainsmen outscored the Tigerhawks 22-12 in the third quarter. CM scored his 14-8 in his fourth.
Elias Hostetter finished with 7 points, 3 rebounds and 2 steals, Carter Gibson added 6 points and 5 boards, and Kael Bracewell had 5 points, 3 rebounds, 3 assists and 3 steals.
Brandon Kuyt had 3 rebounds, 2 assists and 2 steals, Conor Dalton scored 3 points and got 3 boards, Cale Willwarding held 4 rebounds and Jared Lewis grabbed 3 steals.
The Tigerhawks (0-8 overall, 0-7 in SICL) shot 29% from the floor, made 4 of 23 from 3-point range, and filled 12 of 14 from the free-throw line. They also committed 24 turnovers.
Bell Plein (8-2, 6-2) shot 33% from the floor, connected 3 of 16 from 3, and hit 8 of 12 from the line. Planesman overtook the Tigerhawks as he rebounded 40-33 and recorded 25 turnovers.
Sam DeMeulenaere led the hosts with 17 points and 11 rebounds, Keaton Parrott scored a team-high 20 points, and Ty Alcott grabbed a game-high 12 boards.
