Kentucky Wesleyan College has hired Laura Rudolph as the campus’s new Career Engagement Specialist. She started her duty on her January 4th.
Rudolph works with students and alumni to explore careers, write resumes, and practice interviews. He also leads existing programs such as Leadership Wesleyan, Panther Career Ally Program, Wesleyan at Work, and Handshake.
“Given my experience so far, I felt like I was the perfect fit for the position,” said Rudolph. “I came from her K-12 education…before that she worked in business, management and customer service.”
Prior to secondary school, he held administrative and marketing roles at the Kentucky Utilities Company. This is Rudolf’s first job in post-secondary education. She previously served as Henderson County Schools Administrator as Principal of North Middle School.
As a business and career and technology teacher at Hopkins County Central High School, Rudolph is involved in career paths, helping students navigate what careers they want and what majors they are interested in at university. bottom.
“My interest in it really solidified and that’s why I was interested in a position at KWC,” she said. But it was also my passion to talk to my students about their dreams for the future and how to get there.”
Rudolph said that her career aspect is a core part of her position at KWC.
“This is what I enjoy and what I feel most strongly about,” she said.
The Career Engagement Specialist position is under the umbrella of Alumni Relations and Career Research, a division KWC will consolidate in 2022.
“This position has never been classified as an alumni relationship, and I think that’s one of the reasons I was hired,” Rudolph said. “We will continue to develop relationships with our alumni and current students.
Rudolph said KWC alumni feel very strongly about the university and want to stay involved.
“The alumni-career marriage gives us the advantage of using those relationships to help existing students,” she said. needs quality candidates and students need work, shadowing and experience.”
Rudolph has two positions in KWC.
“I oversee the event, but I also enjoy one-on-one conversations with students and conversations that help them understand what they need to do,” she said.
Rudolph said he was impressed by the KWC faculty and staff and how passionate they are about the university, its students and its alumni.
“It’s just a great place,” she said. “…I am not a graduate, but I would like to be one.”
Rudolph holds a Bachelor’s degree in Marketing/Economics from Western Kentucky University and three Master’s degrees in Business Administration from the University of Kentucky.
