The Student Division began chanting his name with just under two minutes left in the long-determined game. Rutgers fans chanted his name over and over as they wanted beloved walk-on Aiden Terry, who won a scholarship last season, to join the party.
“Aiden Terry!”
Head coach Steve Piquel quickly got their wish, sending them onto the floor with the Scarlet Knights leading Minnesota by 31 points at 1:22. It was his birthday from Kentucky and the occasion was just a gift.

On the first possession after Terry was subbed, point guard Derek Simpson sent the ball after Rutgers grabbed the rebound on a missed free throw from the Golden Gophers.
Terry dribbled inside the arc and turned around when he encountered a defender. He threw it at Simpson and quickly found space in the left corner of the court, behind his arc for a three-pointer.
Simpson looked at him and returned it, giving Terry a golden chance to knock down his first career three-point shot. I drank loudest roar of the night when it hits the bottom of the net.
“He prepared for it,” Piquille said after Wednesday’s 90-55 victory at Jersey Mike’s Arena. “Aiden does a lot of things that we don’t see in our program. And he’s a worker, part of our scout team, and he has a lot to do. One day is a point guard, one day two guards, he has to play his part like any other player on the other team, happy for Aiden.
So did his teammates, who jumped off the bench in celebration. A former teammate joins the party on his social media, Geo Baker tweets Terry’s nickname When Ron Harper Jr. hit “Boom.”

“Derek drew two and kicked it at me. That’s it for the rest,” he said.
“When I gave it to him,” Simpson replied.
The outcome of the game didn’t mean much, but the moments we celebrated in Kentucky’s stands, benches, and home were not quickly forgotten.
